The Greens in Rwanda are repeatedly being stopped from holding their constituent congress. Threats, defamation and downright violence are methods used by government supporters to stop a real opposition from developing. The Democratic Green Party of Rwanda (DGPR) needs our support!
Four times the Greens in Rwanda have tried to gather to formally constiute their party - four times government supporters have stopped them. Today, there is no real opposition in Rwanda. It is obvious that president Paul Kagame's tactics to maintain that situation is to make it impossible for the Greens to hold their congress. Green supporters are harassed, smeared in the media and locked up.Hundreds of people with very limited financial resources have repeatedly travelled to congresses that have been stopped.
Green Forum has provided the Democratic Green Party of Rwanda with financial support to hold their congress and we will continue to do so until our Green friends have been allowed to constitute their party. But after four stopped congresses, the means of Green Forum, obtained from the Swedish International Development Agency, have almost run out. But with your help we can continue to support the Greens in Rwanda!
